Bill Slavik began his automotive career in 1976 where he apprenticed at a two-bay gas station on Huron Church Line. At a time when the auto mechanic trade was regarded as unappealing, and personal rewards were only recognized by the tradesmen, themselves, Bill Slavik had a dream to build a company which would introduce new levels of professionalism, trust and integrity to the industry he loved.
With both a Class A license and a Truck & Coach license, Bill pursued his goal by gaining additional experience and knowledge. He attained his Natural Gas (ICE-NG) and Propane (ICE-P) licenses, and then moved to the GM Transmission Plant where he obtained experience in quality control and product engineering. Bill left GM and began working in an automobile dealership where his training and management experience would later be beneficial in starting his own business.
Bill's Automotive was established in 1985 as a one-bay facility at 1235 St. Luke Road. Bill operated at this location for four years. During that time, Bill worked to service his dedicated clientele (some of whom had been with him since his apprenticeship training), and started gaining experience in industrial and forklift repairs. Operating 24-hrs, on-call, commercial and industrial fleets were now an important part of his business, resulting in a need for more manpower and even more service bays.
Bill's Automotive moved to its present location at 2850 Jefferson Blvd in 1989 where an 8 bay, 5200 square foot building was erected. In 1995, a twin 8 bay, 6400 square foot building was added to accommodate fleet contracts with the City of Windsor’s Police Services and Windsor Utilities divisions. Bill's Automotive was now the largest privately owned automotive repair facility in the City of Windsor.
Bill’s Automotive has continued to grow and thrive as a dynamic automobile service organization operating with a strong commitment to honesty and integrity with genuine care and concern for the well-being and safety of their clients.
A number of programs have been developed at Bill’s Automotive to ensure that every client is treated with the care and respect they deserve. These programs include the Total Quality Management Program which every team member must complete as a condition of their employment.
The Total Quality Management program ensures that all Team Members are made clearly aware of their responsibilities and the high value placed upon clients. It also includes procedures to continually improve levels of service and quality through teamwork, brainstorming and ongoing self-improvement.
